P-Tree: Never listened to this group before but I have heard of them. At first the bass sounded a little like Les Claypool, I was really into Primus and his multiple spin-offs. not sure if he played for PT or not. this also reminded me of Dream Theater a little, so I am guessing because this fits into the Prog rock music that you guys love so much, that there is no way I will know what the connection is.
Iggy Pop – One of my favorite Iggy Pop songs and a great duet. Not sure what draws me to this song , i just really enjoy it. as for the artist, it could go either way, but shouldn’t be too hard to figure out.
Porcupine Tree – Nil Recurring
Grand & heavy, but nuanced with some Far East elements.
I could listen to this multiple times for the drumming/percussion alone. The guitar work is also masterful. Far out.
Iggy Pop & Kate Pearson – Candy
This may be the only Iggy Pop solo record I own, Brick by Brick – got it back in the day when I would raid the used CD bins armed with my wishlist filled with the albums allmusic.com considered the best for an artist. It did not disappoint and this tasty track features an understated performance from IP – he just about croons. Kate is a fine counterpart. I want candy.
“Nil Reocurring” / Porcupine Tree. Angular hard-rock instrumental turns into something spacier and more contemplative, then rocks out again, keyed by (presumably) Fripp’s stratospheric guitar lines. Interesting at times, but at 6 minutes, this dragged a bit for me.
“Candy” / Iggy P and Kate P. Nifty, poppy little duet. Amusing to hear Ig croon. Not his strong suit. But Kate as we know can really belt. Lives up to its title.
“Nil Recurring” by Porcupine Tree: Real Jazz Fusion vibe to this one. I like the build at about 3:18 in. A big epic sound with plenty of interesting trills and thrills. I am a fan of Porcupine Tree and this is a fine journey of a song. I would have to guess the base artist is Robert Fripp mainly because that is what it say right above the video screen
“Candy”by Iggy Pop & Kate Pearson: Love this song and I forgot about it until just now. Thanks for sharing. His voice has such an interesting character and Kate Pearson’s voice kicking in half way through is killer to my ears.
Iggy and Kate – What pop music should sound like. Love this track. I’m always a fan when Iggy goes into his “crooner” mode and Kate’s voice was always a standout for me. Dig the spoken word backstory. These two work great together.
