Taking a Police track in a frenetic, jazzy direction. Audience should be standing and dancing. Backup singers are a rush. And that bass is sounding pritt-eee sweet.

“Shadows in the Rain”/ Sting. For the adults! That was quite the reinvention for him post-Cops, into a sophisticated jazzbo, looking to grow up with his audience (or grow them up). Not that the Police weren’t sophisticated, of course. I actually don’t remember this Police song too well, but this version is played with lots of verve and the band is great.
“Punk Rock Fever” by Melissa Lefton: Very pop; style reminds me of some of the music my kids loved in the 2000s. This has a infectious little groove; is it geared for kids??
Shadows in the Rain” by Sting: this feels like Sting in his “I’m not quite sure what I want to be” phase—rock star, jazz artist, classical experimenter? You can’t deny the sheer talent around him, though—some truly all-star musicianship on display. I like the song. I’m a Sting fan, despite the occasional pretension.
