  1. Joe Jackson – might have him confused for someone else, especially when I heard his voice. Its a bad jam, I am guessing this video is from a reunion? They still have it!

    Motorhead
I got interested in Motorhead way into my 40’s. Not sure why it took so long. Not a big heavy metal genre person but Lemmy just does it differently.

  2. Joe Jackson – On Your Radio
An impressive catalog en total, but those first two records, Look Sharp and I’m the Man are taught, frantic gems. This one, being from the latter, features a great bass line (a signature of those albums’ tracks) and a radio star sticking his tongue out at past detractors. A hot performance – I wish the mix was a little better, but that’s a quibble.

Motörhead – (We Are) The Road Crew
A lot of energy this week. There’s nothing subtle here, just propulsive hard rock with some spacy guitar. What I’d expect from, and what I appreciate about, Motörhead.

  3. “On Your Radio”/Joe Jackson. Early Joe Jackson had it going on — that bristling post-punk energy, all fast-burn dynamics and dyspeptic lyrics. In the vein of early (and thereafter intermittent) Elvis Costello and also Graham Parker. With a classically inflected keyboard coda. Suck it, school bullies!

“We Are the Road Crew”/Motorhead. A paean to the working stiffs behind rock n roll tours, as only Lemmy and the gang could do. Lemmy’s pre-fame jobs included roadying for Jimi Hendrix. Wham, bam, wrap it up in 3:12 boys, we gotta load out for the next town.

  4. “On Your Radio” by Joe Jackson: Great song. I always find myself pre-judging Joe as his past reputation is so burned into my skull as an audience hater. I am a big fan of Joe Jackson’s sound. I am almost always entertained by his music, keys, creativity, band and quality of production live and in studio. This song is no exception.

“(We Are) The Road Crew” by Motorhead: An expected attitude and toughness wafts across the room. Rock and roll baby \\m//. Had me bumping (I originally typed humping…glad my spell check caught that) and moving (I see the mosh pit calling) and the guitar riffs washing and distorting across the sonic field took it up a notch. Not my usual genre go-to but I do enjoy when this music is offered up and I appreciate it more for that. That is one talented road crew…Motorhead must be good players too.
