Not a fan, but when this song came out, it just hit differently, you also can’t ignore the Red Hot Chilli Pepper sample. I don’t think they did anything else. but to their credit, this song rocked.

“Canary in a Coalmine” by The Police

Two minutes and 26 seconds of perfect Police-y joy. I love the jaunty rhythms, Sting’s harmonies and even the little, middle eight which is a sprinkle of shimmering piano. I have a vague memory of someone thinking that the title sounded like, “Put Mary in a Coalmine.”
