  1. GGJQ – Fun song, but had the opposite of the previous 3 minute song, this one felt longer than it should. interesting take from a Russian perspective. You can’t go wrong with an old time classic.

The Bears…. I feel like there is way too much going on in this song. Never heard of this band.

  2. The Golden Gate Jubilee Quartet – Stalin Wasn’t Stallin
Hitler as the AntiAdam. Some fine humor here, but tough to hear Stalin painted as noble. Great selection – sent me on a small journey to refresh my memory of some of that history.

    The Bears – Robobo’s Beef
Perhaps a bit simple, and maybe a bit overly hopeful, lyrically, but I find it refreshing. Musically I’m totally on board. Adrian Belew is always experimenting with what sounds he can get out of a guitar.

  3. “Robobo’s Beef” / The Bears. Very inventive playing in a pop-rock context. I don’t know this band well but this is a fine track. A song of global anti-war solidarity: “It’s gonna happen soon.” Let’s hope.

  4. “Stalin Wasn’t Stallin” by The Golden Gate Jubilee Quartet – Serious bonus points for the puns, especially given its heavy subject-matter. And historical accuracy, so someone was doing their homework. The spoken word verses gives this track a ‘it’s story time’ feel, and I dig that lo-fi static.

“Robobo’s Beef” by The Bears – Off of the album Rise and Shine released in 1988? Not gonna lie, never heard of this band before this week. Production is a little all over the place, but I dig the organized chaos… reminds me of the old Casio keyboard demos at time. However, upbeat, positive and while you can hear their influences, it doesn’t sound like they are trying to copy anyone. It’s going to happen soon.

  5. “Stalin Wasn’t Stallin” by The Golden Gate Jubilee Quartet: This fit the theme. Totally understand the historical context. Written in 1943 according to wiki. Mix is poor but that does not matter. Appears to be shedding light on the importance of Russia in outcome of the war….this is important. However, the song was shining light on one person who was evil incarnate and I could not get out of my head that the other guy Stalin was a mass murderer himself (millions I think). This did taint what would otherwise have been a rather pleasant journey of a tune for me.

“Robobo’s Beef” by The Bears: This had a very organic feel and yet felt extremely Do It Yourself Home Studio. I loved it. Probably overproduced n that DIY way, but this made it even more fun for me. Loved the arpeggiated complexities, the harmonies, the arrangement and just the tune itself. I must admit I never actually paid much attention to what was actually being song. That will be on later run through. Two Thumbs way up.
