“Up From The Skies” by Jimi Hendrix
Submitted by Bill

Hendrix, fascinated by UFOs from an early age, effortlessly role-plays a returning extraterrestrial visitor curious about earthly ways (especially high-rise housing, apparently). “I want to hear and see everything.” (“Maybe it’s just a change of climate,” Hendrix observed, in 1967.) The rhythm section works the jazzy, wah-wah-driven beat with slinky assurance. First song I thought of when informed of this theme! Pair with “After The Gold Rush.”

“Girl In The Moon” by Icehouse
Submitted by Dave

This is an album that was added to my collection way, way back and has always stuck with me. This song is one of the reasons. I like.

“Intergalactic” by Beastie Boys
Submitted by Ian

The first time I heard of the Beastie Boys was probably around 6th grade with Licensed to Ill. Never thought of them much but then revisited them back in the 90’s. Just a bunch of really talented guys.

“Tell It to the Moon” by Martha Davis
Submitted by Ed

Followed her from The Motels to her solo work and I recently remembered this track. I found that I still got caught up in its soaring chorus.

““The North Star” by Roddy Frame”
Submitted by Alan

Post-Aztec Camera, Roddy Frame has a series of albums which mix melancholic dirges, discoey dance numbers and more straight ahead jangly pop-rockers like this one. Roddy has a way of crafting melodic rhythms in the choruses of his songs and this one is particularly charming.
