  1. BF&F – Amazing, my favorite Christmas album of all time is “A Charlie Brown Christmas” I just listened to it about 20 times. I never knew the theme song for Charlie Brown was called Linus and Lucy. Interesting take on what I consider a classic.

Tr. – unfamiliar with this group. Very Prog rock. After many years of My5, I think it is growing on me. Love the instrumentals. They don’t sound German., I can’t really make out the lyrics.

  2. “Linus and Lucy”/B. Fleck and Flecktones. Never a bad time to hear a version of this classic Vince Guaraldi-penned tune that for many listeners evokes Christmas. Fleck’s masterful banjo skills — and added solo — make for a great cover.

“Spartacus”/Triumvirat. Quite the epic, and epic display of chops. The real progginess kicks in at 1:20, with that carnivalesque organ and the BPM at like 375. Entertainingly over the top. I hear Spartacus himself sung it solo with a lyre.

  3. Bela Fleck and the Flecktones – Linus and Lucy
Impressive and just a heck of a lot of fun. Feature a bassist and I’m in. Wonderful cover.

    Triumvirat – Spartacus
My long history with this album makes it difficult to be objective. There is such a richness here – partially due to an effective use of both bass guitar and the bass notes on the piano. Flourishingly bombastic.

  4. Spartacus- I started writing a comment with the other bands that I heard referenced in this song but it got too lengthy. Definitely snippets of early Genesis, Elton, ELP, Yes. What a great slice of prog. I was particularly impressed with the variety of keyboard play, both sounds and technique.

  5. “Linus and Lucy” by Bela Fleck and the Flecktones

What a great performance. It is interesting that an audio book was advertised for me to read this morning that I think was authored by this bassist (Wooten? Not sure of that last name nor do I recall the book name). It barely registered at the time but the ad did make reference to Bela Fleck and the Flecktones.. so hearing this song now MUST be synchronicity…right? ok..back to the song. It was great : ) Also enjoyed watching a pirate playing drums with some other type of what I assume to be a percussive contraption during a solo.

    “Spartacus” by Triumvirat

If Elton John was in a prog band it might sound like this vocally. This had some crazy breakdowns. The journey was excellent. The piano and organ work were outstanding.

    1. Thanks for pointing out that it was Victor Wooten on bass Dave. I know the name as he is a fantastic player and gets around. I did not know he was part of the Flecktones.
