  1. TT – Was always a fan of Motown. Another fine example

Sugar – never heard this band or group before. Most likely because of the airtime I give to Strawbs.

I got to hear about 10 seconds before it stopped loading.

  2. The Temptations – Just My Imagination
Smooooth. I don’t know that I’ve ever noticed the vibes at the beginning. All the touches are evidence of brilliant production. Ooh, the flawless vocal baton handoffs. I really appreciate the opportunity to give it a close listen. Fantastic.

Sugar – If I Can’t Change Your Mind
Bare bones pop here. Bob Mould at his sunshine sounding-ish. Ringing, chiming goodness.

  3. “Just My Imagination”/Tempts. Hadn’t heard this Motown classic in a while. It’s altogether much dreamier than the Stones’ remake. Those harmonies! And the gospel-style middle is otherworldly; this track is a graduate seminar on soul vocals. Love the vibes in there too. Nice use of tremolo guitar. I’m not crazy about those kindy wacky strings, but it scarcely matters.

“If I Can’t Change Your Mind”/Copper. Classic guitar pop, almost disconcertingly catchy. I saw Mould play live recently and he didn’t do this, which I imagine is among his most-requested (maybe that’s why ha ha). At his best, he makes the most of simplicity, here more (as Ed notes) in a chiming, acoustic vein rather than the overdriven roar he’s most known for.

  4. Just My Imagination” by The Temptations: Very nice to give this one a deeper listen. Wonderful Track….I see why it is classic

“If I Can’t Change Your Mind” by Sugar: The album this was on, Copper Blue was a My Five album offering I believe way back. I know this song from a fair amount of spins since then. Excellent Track.
