THS – Well that woke me up… (Somehow the volume was cranked to 11). Not familiar with this group. The voice sounds familiar or is similiar to another artist but I can’t place it. Bruce Springsteen??? I get some Blink 182 vibes in the chorus. Again, can’t think of the song..
The Hold Steady – Sequestered in Memphis
I couldn’t pick them out in a line-up, but have certainly heard a few of their tracks (I have a positive feeling in general, but I can’t name one). I’m hearing a little of The Darkness’ hit up front – then Cracker. Has a good energy and the piano is a nice touch. Like it, don’t love it.
The Hold Steady- Wow, that’s quite the powerful introduction. Old School! BIG piano, big guitar, big organ (watch it). It’s got the sloppy, swaggery vibe of a 70’s jam–and now with horns. And there’s even a little drum breakdown in the middle. I recall being into one of their albums which I can’t recall now. This thing flew by. I can imagine this being a great song to hear live.
“Sequestered in Memphis” by The Hold Steady: A growing fan of this group. This seems a straight ahead rocker that hits the spot tonight. Glad the bridge came in when it did as it was getting at the tipping point of too long without an arrangement change-up. Enjoyed.
