“Valley Girl” by Frank Zappa, Moon Zappa
Submitted by Dave
Frank Zappa and his daughter Moon Unit. I always got a kick out of this song and still do.

“Sebrina, Paste and Plato” by Jellyfish
Submitted by Ed
Been looking for a reason to get a Jellyfish song into a round and this is one of my favorites. Pop-psychedelia a la Pet Sounds and Sgt. Peppers. No flaws.

“Electric Aunt Jemima” by The Mothers of Invention
Submitted by Ian
I love breakfast. unfortunately I only use real syrup now and haven’t had Aunt Jemima in a long time. I also preferred Mrs. Buttersworth.

“If I Had $1,000,000” by Barenaked Ladies
Submitted by Alan
This has all the playfulness of the BNL with some great harmonies and some sneaky songwriting hijinx, like the exploiting of the call and response technique for the purposes of humor (“If I had $1,000,00/I’d buy you some Art/like a Picasso or a Garfunkel”). This video performance is particularly loose (and longer) as it is from a live Farm Aid concert.

“Sequestered in Memphis” by The Hold Steady
Submitted by Bill
Really just learned about these guys recently, and quite dig their combination of raucous rock n roll and great lyrics. This is their closest thing to a hit, and it’s pretty great. Brand name: Mustang.
