  1. Van Morrison/Warren Zevon, I get them confused always, and when pressed can’t think of the other name.

I don’t think there is a song I don’t like. Upbeat and energetic.

  2. “Jackie Wilson…”/Vannie Morrison. The great lead track to a great album (perhaps my fave of his after “Astral Weeks”) and a joyful tribute to the great soul singer. Have loved this one for years though I am newly appreciating the spectacular horn charts. And I still dig the intro, with those no-FX vocals and handclaps. Let it all hang out.

  3. Van Morrison – Jackie Wilson Said (I’m in Heaven When You Smile)
I have a memory snippet in which Bill tells me, something like, he had never heard a voice so bare and in-your-face as when Van asserts “Da-da da da da, da-da da da da…”
I’ve heard this one so many times, but never tire of it. Let’s give it a fresh listen…
The horns are so perfectly intertwined. “Boom, boom, boom punctuation. It’s about as damn near perfect as you can get.
Note: Dexy’s Midnight Runners do a pretty banging version.
