  1. The Times – I Helped Patrick McGoohan Escape
Got a bit of that certain area of Motown sound that The Jam, and sometimes Madness” channeled. Man, that bass player is putting in some work. Also makes me think of Breaking Down the Walls of Heartache.

  2. “I helped Patrick Mcgoohan Escape”/ The Times. If I recall, this is the second homage to 60s TV in recent M5 history. A great tip of the cap to ca-’66 guitar pop, down to the production (somewhere between the Kinks and stateside garage rock); likewise, the vid is a spot-on send-up of that era’s edgier TV, down to the lighting and camera moves (I think “Hard Day’s Night” director Richard Lester’s influence is evident). A fun little nostalgia trek.

    1. The Times- Fun, jangly, jaunty tune with close enough, raggedy harmonies that are endearing. Do you think the kids today know Patrick McGoohan? Not American kids certainly. Sometimes the videos add and subtract from the aural experience. This one added and like my collleague BOD, I too was reminded of Hard Days Night.

  3. “I Helped Patrick McGoohan Escape” by The Time. I am hearing Madness so I am now curious if there is some relationship between the two bands, Bright, bouncy, British.. and very pop. 80’s reflecting back on a 60s vibe. What’s not to like.
