  1. Mekons- The right honorable BOD gifted me a Mekons CD many moons ago. They are on the edge of what I might typically reach for though genuinely craft songs with a heartfelt IDGAF ethos. The delayed string pick in this song is effective and troubling. The voices are eerie, haunting and fit the lyrics perfectly. **Extra points for branding using the first actual brand– East India Tea Company.

  2. Mekons – Brutal
Most familiar with their “Rock n’ Roll” album (another shoutout to our own Wee Willie O.).
Definitely some Nico energy here. Love the accordion and accents (e.g. hand clapping). Very hazy and druglike. Oooh, “tinctures” – good word. From tea to opium – mass opiates. Dig it – laying some truth down. Love the pause between “…built on the profits” (could hear as prophets) and “from the opium trade.” A well constructed and bountiful track.

    Billy Bragg – Sexuality
    I have the cassingle!
Ah, the seemingly elusive common ground. Accessible, poppy (dare I say playful?) Bragg. The bridge is scrumptious. (Aww, I miss Kirsty.) Simply great.
The video provided some much-needed smiles and feelings of warmth.
