  1. The Knack – Oh, Tara
File with The Romantics, The Producers, etc.. A sweet deep track. I get it. 🙂

Jeff Kelly – What Became of Betty Page?
Reminds me a little of Guadalcanal Diary. Has a bit of a demo feel. Dreamy.

  2. The Knack – If asked i couldn’t name a song they did, however, if you shown me the cover, I would say the Knack. It must have been a good album becuase it is very recognizable to me. Must have been all those years I was a Rolling Stone’s subscriber.

JK – never heard of him, but have heard of BP..

Both songs seemed similar in style. and enjoyable.

  3. “Oh Tara”/The Knack. A fine slice of new-wave power pop. Guitars in the middle bit are nicely chimey. And, for the genre, an extended guitar solo, one that earns its keep.

“What Became of Betty Page”/Jeff Kelly. Good melodic pop-rock tribute (love the organ) to the rather niche cult figure, star of mid-century stag films, etc. Was it the bod? The abandon? The bangs? The rhyme of her name with “Atomic Age” is aces. Can’t help noting the video, which appears to be an actual, unaltered document (public domain?) shot in your grandma’s old living room.

  4. “Oh Tara” by The Knack: When I was but a wee lad I played the shit out of this album. Seeing the front cover made me chuckle for some reason and I am not sure exactly why. The song was fun to listen to tonight. Pop candy.

“What Became of Betty Page?” by Jeff Kelly:

This song must have been written before ChatGpt. Apparently Bettie lived until she was 85. She dropped from modeling in late 50s, had a strong religious conversion, then mental illness, homelessness for a bit, lived in CA and died at 85. Made very little from modeling career. Models had almost no image rights in the 1950s.

Oh the song; I hear Robert Plant and/or Neal Young trying to sing with the Cure and Radiohead all at the same time. Like the movie the Thing. The song is not tight (not that that is a requirement), not bad either but did not quite land for me during the moment(s) of listening.
