  1. Never heard of the group before, great beginning to my late start, rainy, Friday morning. the sound is very familiar. thinking Landon Pigg. More music to add to my list of things to listen to.

Hope all is well, and have a Happy Holiday!

  2. Iron & Wine – Thomas County Law
Casual fan of Samuel Ervin Beam’s. Every once in a while I hear a track from this artist that really grabs me. This one is solid. With the acoustic guitar, simple percussion and light strings, it’s actually a little Simon & Gafunkel-esque. Perfect for an early Saturday Morning coffee listen.

  3. Iron & Wine- Big Iron & Wine fan. Aside from his perpetually impressive beard, his voice, harmonies and the ambience in his songs are other-worldly. Same thing here. He has a real sense of ‘place’–small, quiet, graceful pretty. I love this line: You can’t see beyond the trees, they’re too tall and wide/And I never seem to see around my brother’s wife.

Not to open a can of worms, but this song would be the example of the single name apropos for this round, as discussed in a recent missive from the ED-itorial board. I, for one, took the direction to mean a person but I welcome the lateral thinking here. Stretching further, I wonder if a song like “You Know My NAME (Look Up the Number) mighty even qualify?

  4. “Thomas County Law”/I&W. Popular AAA act of whom I’ve heard only a little. This is very nice. Pleasant on the surface with turbid emotional depths. Demands repeat listens.
