  1. LL – I first heard them when the movie La Bamba came out, then again in the movie Desperado. That’s about all I know of them.

S&G – my favorite, or at least top 3 Simon and Garfunkel songs. I don’t know why I like it. I just do.. I might have submitted this before, or as a cover from Chilli peppers guitarist John Frusciante

  2. Los Lobos – Wake Up Dolores
Probably my favorite album from LL. It was one of those records that really struck me as something different (see also E.C.’s Imperial Bedroom). Hell, it’s just one of my favorite albums. The backing vocals are chant-like. A touch of insect-like guitar. “Oh sacred night.” Sung silkily and tenderly. I feel this song.

Simon & Garfunkel – For Emily, Wherever I May Find Her
    A pretty folk song. Wispy.

  3. “For Emily …”/Simon & Garfunkel. A courtly sort of love song. (I knew the title and I surely must have heard this one before but I seemed to have forgotten it!) Short and purty. Nice finger-picked guitar. The concluding “oh how I love you” reminds me of “Nights in White Satin” (“Emily” was released first …)

    1. Interesting. Nights in White Satin is another of my favorites, as a child, I called the album “The Devil’s music” Ed bought be the vinyl for my birthday one year. I just played it the other day and never picked up on the similarity. Also interesting is that the song “Do you Love Me (Now that I can dance)” the chorus is almost identical with Nick Cave’s “Do you Love Me. ” which I just realized over the weekend.

  4. “Wake Up Dolores” by Los Lobos: Los Lobos always deliver a certain laid back sumtin to the rhythm delivery. The harmonies are interesting; I like them. I know this album but not this song real well. That accordion sound I believe is used throughout the album. It was nice to hear it here. I would have guessed this to be an Ed track for sure, however, I think the single name as opposed to an entire First and Last name may violate the rules for this round and do not believe Ed would make such a “beyond the pale” (my dad uses that phrase often) error. I have submitted the issue to The Compliance Office Council of Elders. This song was excellent none-the-less

For Emily, Wherever I May Find Her” by Simon and Garfunkel”: A beautiful track. Loved hearing t again after a very long time. Btw…also submitted to Council of Elders for review ; ).
