  1. MW – Can’t go wrong with the blues. Love the horns, I am guessing this has been cleaned up, very polished sounding. Used to the blues being very “muddied” and raw sounding.

Sert. – Not familiar with this band. The sound is very familiar, it sounds like many other bands that I have heard before.

  2. “Sertraline”/The Lottery Winners. Never heard of them, but I like it. The intro was ELO-ish but then got into an Arcade Firey groove. They seem to have a good dark sense of humor to go with the big hooks, kinda reminds me of The Mekons lyrically. “I don’t care for reality/It’s better to pretend.” I had to look up “Setraline.”

  3. Muddy Waters – Trouble in Mind
Ease on into that groove. Has me closing my eyes and slowly bobbing my head. One of a kind vocal delivery. Most excellent.

    Sertraline – The Lottery Winners
The cover photo made me think of OK Go. Equal parts Echo & The Bunnymen and [insert early Warped tour act (I’ll go with All American Rejects)]. I think the main riff reminds me a little of an Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros track (or maybe it’s Coldplay’s Paradise). It all adds up to a very listenable track.

  4. Muddy- Beautiful tune. Somehow there is the interlacing of blues and joy in the music, in his voice, the lyrics. I’m also amazed at the beautiful simplicity (and sophistication) of not only the arrangement but of the recording. 1966! You can clearly hear each instrument and each one has its place. His voice is a wonder too. No auto-tune there!

  5. “Trouble in Mind” by Muddy Waters: Classic blues. Interesting how they hard panned many of the instruments in the stereo field. This seemed to be fairly popular thing to do back in the day. I find it mildly distracting but need to get over it. The song does conjure up trouble and a bit of joy to my ears.

“Sertraline” by The Lottery Winners: Ahh.. this is just what I was craving in the moment. Enjoyed the arrangement dynamic change-ups, upbeat drive and ahhhh haaas…..only wish I new what Sertraline means.

Post note: found out it appears to be an anti-depressant drug …interesting.
