OMD – 2nd Thought
Catches OMD well before they became the slick popsters that would produce their fare share of catchy singles. A bit of an audio painting – just bounces along – seemingly wistful.
Imogen Heap – Hide and Seek
I’ve heard less than a handful of her tracks, but the name evokes a positive response.
This is an intriguing track. Effected vocals with just a wisp of keyboard. Makes me think of my days at Moogfest and also Petra Haden. I’m on board.
“2nd Thought”/OMD. Intriguing alchemy with this beat — it’s the same thing all the way through but somehow the interplay between the drums, that synth drum (bowwwm), the additional percussion and the bass doesn’t get wearying. Melancholy, ruminative melody and vocal stylings. Thoughts for a gray Saturday afternoon.
“Hide and Seek”/Imogen Heap. Known her name for years, don’t know her work. This is very unusual — you don’t usually hear vocals this layered and processed in an “a capella” setting (there is a little single-note keyboard toward the end). Creates an intriguing atmosphere, intimate and dreamy but obviously with some edges.
“2nd Thought” by Orchestral Manouvres in the Dark:
Reminds me of college. OMD was in the queue often. I need to get them back in the line-up much more. Excellent Track. They set a certain atmosphere that is just so OMD. Chef’s Kiss.
OMD – So this took a slight change from where I thought it was going. I like it
IH – I know a few of her songs, never heard this one… not sure i like the autotune? on her voice.
