Stone Temple Pilots – I Got You
Struck me as a little R.E.M.-ish and then went into a sweet poppy chorus reminding a little more of Pugwash. This is pleasing to my ears – well put together.
STP- I don’t recall this tune from the STP days. I like it. It definitely resonates with their other tunes. Their drummer is a big fan on non-stick percussion which I love. They always have sweet and interesting guitar work as they do here. Can’t go wrong with the acoustic-Rickenbacker combination. Scott Weiland’s voice is so flexible and has such great character. Sad that he died so young.
“I Got You”/STP. First time hearing this, nor do I know STP too well. More “classic rock” than I expected, with that little R&B rhythm guitar, the arpeggiation, etc. The singer sounds a little like Cobain, both in his phrasing and the quality of his voice, though the theme is considerably more affirming than Kurt typically was. It’s nice.
