  1. CC- this took an interesting turn, the intro had a very “Joy Division” feel, then it went a little psychedelic on me, then hada somewhat 60’s vibe.

    R&D
Hmm, not sure if this was my selection or not. Though the last round was one of mine. Anyway I was a big fan of songs written about fast cars and good times. I would reenact the scene in Fast Times at Ridgemont High where Hamilton is washing his car. I would do the same but be singing this song while doing it.

  2. Wondermints – Chris-Craft No. 10
Wet Sounds. Psychedelically smooth. Rubinoos meets Jellyfish in a win-win sea skirmish. Summertime swirls.

    Ronny & The Daytonas – G.T.O.
Surf’s Up! Solid Beach Boys/Jan&Dean-adjacent little number. Twistin’, shakin’ and generally groovin’.

  3. “Chris-Craft No. 10″/The Wonderments. Very much drawing on ’60s psychedelia, as others have noted. Fine use of fuzz-guitar walkdowns and backwards vocals. Inevitably summons the Beach Boys. Well done. I always found “Chris-Craft” a weird brand name (who the hell’s Chris, and why should I care?), and thus the line “I’m on a Chris-Craft to your heart” strikes me as especially amusing.

“GTO”/Ronny & The Daytonas. Even more Beach Boys here, obviously, though as Ed references, tons of bands were doing this in the early ’60s (if mostly because of the Boys). This one is as complete a pastiche of that style as one might find. Nice contrast between the lead singer’s relatively deep voice and the falsettos backing vox.

  4. Wonderments : Take her up, dive her down, and blow those ships apart”. Pop, retro madness….lush harmonies… instrumental creativeness and playfulness….very fun indeed

GTO: very similar to the former to my ears…..big 60s beach boys sound…..replicating? Wondering who influenced who ? Get the surf boards ……very of a time…. Like that woo wahs backing vocal
